Marcel A. Vélez Vásquez is a PhD researcher at the University of Amsterdam. He studies how AI learns and represents musical concepts, and how we can pinpoint the concepts inside these models to better understand, and sometimes adjust, them. His work aims to make AI more transparent and steerable. Marcel is also the jury lead and co-organizer of the global AI Song Contest, helping build awareness around fair AI in songwriting and creating an open, international space where anyone, from artists and music enthusiasts to policymakers, can explore, question, and experiment with these technologies.
